Host a House "Donation" Party If you have a home, it's a great place to host a "orphanage donation" party. We have volunteers who may be able to speak at your event, can offer DVD's to share information about the Tibetan orphans situation, or present a slide show of one of our volunteering adventures. Hosting an educational event is both fun and exciting. People love to help suffering children, if they are just given the opportunity. Especially one like this that is a grass roots volunteer organization where every penny goes to help the children. Bring your family and friends, business associates and colleagues together for a night of learning, sharing and caring, and maybe a great DVD and some popcorn. Pass around the hat and ask for donations. You will be surprised to see how appreciative people are that you have made them aware of the need. Once you get good at this you may be able to share the information with your local churches, schools and other organizations.
The backpacks were filled with school supplies and some toys, thanks to Sue's efforts. What a huge heart and warm smile. Thanks so much from all the children of Warithang!
Sponsor a Child: This is an incredible opportunity for you to REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of hundreds of people who, to no fault of their own, cannot ade quately care for themselves. If you are unable to commit the time to travel to this country it is possible to sponsor one or more children each month. Such a donation could keep a child warm, feed a child for the month, and could very well save the life of your sponsored child. Right now we barely have enough to keep up with the 108 orphans in residence. But with your financial assistance we could possibly bring in another few hundred children off the streets. We are talking survival at the very basic level. But we have goals and dreams. In order for these children to survive in adulthood we must teach them Chinese and English and other skills they can use to get jobs in a Chinese society. With the help of volunteers and sponsors like you, we even hope to send some of them off to University some day. Your generosity and compassion will be of great benefit to these young children.
For $1.60 a day or $50.00 per month you can sponsor a child's food and shelter.

Donate to or Sponsor a Handicraft Center: We hope volunteers will help us with fund raising projects which funds will be used to establish a self-sufficient handicraft center that will provide a vital outlet for the creativity of the villagers and serve as an employment center for them.
Enjoying the feel of her new winter jacket, she watches others open their packs of goodies.
In time, a portion of the funds will also be used to establish a self-sufficient handicraft center that will provide a vital outlet for the creativity of the villagers and serve as an employment center for them. The money from the sale of their handicrafts will be used to raise more funds for these activities so that in the years to come they will not have to be dependent on the generosity of others. Also, the money raised from the sale of the handicraft goods will be used to pay for the expenses incurred in running the Orphanage – Food, clothings, medical and education.
Economics dictate that once people have the necessary disposable income – achieved through a steady stream of salaries for their artistic skills – they will spend the money in the village and have a multiplier effect on the general well-being of the village as a whole. This will have enormous ramifications for the school, health clinic and the self-sufficient handicraft center. The income received from the center will be used to develop and expand the school’s projects. In addition, the proceeds from the sale of arts and crafts made by the locals will enable the project to be completely self reliant thereby overcoming the major hurdle of funding in the future. More importantly, it will help wean the locals away from the paradoxes of foreign aid. While the situation for most residents in Zadou County is indeed grim, the community demonstrates some remarkable resources that make certain projects timely and worthwhile. The community is currently looking for solutions at many levels. People are actively seeking resources, are curious and open to direction and guidance. They have strong confidence and trust in good leadership and support their proven leaders in whatever way they are able. Their resilence as a people is impressive.
Trucks: Each year we must rent trucks and vehicles for the long 20-hour journey to the orphanage. Coal must be hauled for the year for cooking and heating. Major food supplies must be hauled in for the year, plus heavy school supplies, medical supplies, etc. It would be great to have our own truck, or have someone pay for the coal for a year. Please contact us for other donations.
Get Creative: We need fundraisers, people that have the knowledge and contacts to raise funds for these projects. If you have any inkling to join our effort, please email us, join us in making a little difference in the world. We'd really appreciate it and anything you can do, even the slightest effort, will surely improve the impoverished lives of these innocent children.
